Sweeney was probably my favorite character in the film
Murray is such a coward. Both his scenes prove it
For standing against a puff piece about Hitler?
@@napalm5for not dealing with Danny directly and for not stoping Derek when he was assaulting hi family at the dinner table.
God was never saying sorry to him. It was his own wishful thinking. God doesn't need to say sorry because he saved us when we were yet sinners. We should say sorry to Him.
Damn, his principal is Benjamin Sisko 🤯
Sweeney was a god send in this. Great movie I remember they showed this in high school to educate everyone.
Simple minded fools… like you… comedy 😂
Man, Avery Brooks has one the most iconic and commanding voices in cinema. When he speaks he’s got your attention!
Always thought it sounded forced forwards
It’s REAL! I created it and IT’S REAL!
All I hear from the teacher is the Rabbi from Hey Arnold.
Great movie
Brooks crunched this role
Analyze and interpret anal sex and interpret hahaa.
Whatever you think about Danny the ending scene justified his beliefs.
That superficially hate begets hate?
Yes but the whites were shown in a much more unfavorable way. There was not one positive message that whites had in the movie unless they towed the liberal status quo like Davina and the mom.
@@napalm5 hate is fun:).
If I recall, Danny concluded that hate was "baggage."
No it didn't how do people watch this entire movie and miss the point entirely? Are people really that thick?
That’s a principal that would have my utmost respect!! Not giving up on a kid is a major decision!
Sweeney 👊
George Martine seems to have trouble marching
The original ending had Derek shaving his head again after Danny was killed... which some people said it made sense... but HOW would that have made sense?! He already learned that Cameron was full of shit and was just using them to sell video tapes... Not to mention he found out in jail that the Aryan Brotherhood were booty bandits that didnt mind gays and mexicans as long as they could grape men and sell drugs with them... So why would he go back go that at the end of the movie? 🤣🤦🏾♂️
Valid point. One could assume Derek simply started over with the grievous memory of his father's death, which put him on the path to begin with and Danny's senseless death sent him right back to where he started. The hypocrisy he learned of with Cameron and The Ayrian Brotherhood were minor setbacks to someone who believed in fundamental White Supremacy.
Times a flat circle man

Roll credits
Dr. Sweeney is the best character in the movie.

Oh I wish Captain Sisko was my teacher, oh teacher my teacher...
2 liberals arguing about the sanctity of one persons views. One says get rid them, the other says let’s look a little closer at the actual problem. The same should be said about “progressive” liberals when they go unchecked, or challenged, when the basis of their ideology is based off of a failed paper from 20 years ago. Or further like Karl Marx’s book when that same douchebag let his family starve to death.
He gave the Nagus detention once.
This was such a good movie
Hell yea
Sisqo... A total traitor to black people.
This movie is pure propaganda compared to the real story.
He is not a traitor
The way he said "Mein Kampf?!!" @2:35 was really funny, I don't know why 😂
It was almost correct. Like 90%.
Captain Sisko always layin’ the smack down
Sisqo meets John Connor.
Who teaches Hulk who’s sister is Kes
Back in the days when they tackled racism at its source and not high brow fanatical theories like white privilege
It works because it hits everyone, it dares to criticize Murray for being overly emotional about Nazis as a Jew for instance instead of being rational, deconstructing behavior and working to change it versus wanting to “cancel” the kid like the culture we have today.
White privilege is about the lasting effects of racism. There are literally people alive from the civil rights era today whose lives and childrens lives were impacted by this, maybe try to understand the concepts.
If they can show Schindler’s list in high schools, then they should have no problem showing this film to students.
They really should but everything is censored now unfortunately
They showed it at my school In English But that was year 2000 not sure if they would today
It’s funny, I agree this should be shown in schools, but we watched a PG version of Schindler list when I was in high school.
They showed it at my high school, that’s when I became a fan of Ed Norton. Led me to watching Fight club for the first time and a month or two later The Incredible Hulk came out lol
They'll show Schindler's List because it's a historic tragedy told through the Hollywood lens. This movie is far rawer with some messages, regardless of whether you're on the Right or Left, are true.
I agree with Sweeney here that the teacher shouldn't have been mad at Danny. Danny followed the assignment.
A brutal mass murdering dictator shouldn't be venerated as a civil rights hero. That was the point Murray was making.
@@napalm5 At worst then he should have just given him an "F" for failing to do the assignment, but why's he in the principal's office? This teacher simply doesn't agree with him, even though the assignment was to write a paper on any book arguing for civil rights, which is technically what that book was about in the eyes of the author.
Danny was being a smart ass and just trying to get a rise out of Sweeney and it was maybe a misguided attempt to impress his brother. Murray called it out correctly but in error assumed that Derek was behind it (whereas it was probably Seth or someone else) Later this is made apparent when Danny boasts to Derek about pissing off Sweeney with the paper and Derek was not amused by his stunt.
@@napalm5 why? because he lost. Why Winston Churchill or Andrew Jackson held in the same standards.
@@ricardomarin487 well for starters they didn't call for the extermination of an entire race as Hitler did
Great movie
This movie made no sense whatsoever, he was suppose to teach his brother through his experience and critical thinking that hate was wrong and racism was wrong. But stereotypes are not! And this movie came full circle to solidify that. Yes it is dumb to hate people because of the color of their skin, that is the most ridiculous thing in life. But the stereotypes of culture, up bringing and the way people predominantly choose to live their lives tests thr bounds of tolerance. Its not a secret that africam american culture is very negative to themselves and people who they come in contact. The movie ends basically saying white people learn from their mistakes and blacks people don't and will continue to cause destruction to society and themselves just as the brother preached on his racist tirades. He was wrong about color, but not about their culture and THAT is what makes people racist and stereotypical. So I dont know what their true analogy was suppose to be.
I disagree with your assessment, especially since the whole reason Danny got shot at the end by that thug was because he was from another gang and Danny disrespected him in front of his homies. It wasn't like the dude randomly shot him. He shot him because he was part of a rival gang. He didn't even have time to find out about how Danny was no longer in the gang or a Nazi.
man his voice in legendary
Very like Laurence Fishburne
The most racist race of people in America in 2024 are Black people. BLM is a household name that is considered a "good thing" by main stream media. By definition, Black Lives Matter is racist, because you are willfully excluding any race not black.
Everybody needs a Dr. Sweeney in their life.
Or Mr Clark (Morgan Freeman) from Lean on Me
@@napalm5 Morgan Freeman in any Rolex, really

Danny stands up to black bullies so they shoot him
Now he could have plugged that assignment right into ChatGPT, here you go Sweeney, enjoy!
ChatGPT knows nothing about his brother. See how weak you are when you give up thinking. You didnt even realize your mistake.
@@MrZillas wow, ur smart
@@MrZillasyou sound like DIO from JoJo’s Bizzare Adventure 😂
The significance of this scene is to not give up on youth so easily. Kids will come across and attach themselves to some crazy ideas. And may even act out on some of them. But short of murder or similarly unforgivable acts, a teacher or a parent should still try to impart some guidance their way.
Sure, go work at one of these schools full of these "at-risk kids" and see how quickly your attitude changes. The fact is troubled kids like Danny are the exception, not the rule. Most are not smart or come from a good home like Danny. Most are dumb, live in a dysfunctional household and have no impulse control. For every success story Sweeney has with someone like Danny, he has at least a dozen who never change.
4:04 "If it's not on my desk in the morning, you are a ghost at Venice Beach High." Excellent foreshadowing
What a harrowing, yet beautifully realistically written film this is! Brilliantly written, acted and directed. One of the most definitive films of the 90's along with The Matrix and Schindler's List ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
